Messages from Class Members:

The class of 1964, in essence, was a ‘Big Bang’ as it did bring into existence a new universe of stellar minds. Those minds expanded and formed galaxies, family systems and star nurseries of their own. Our expanding universe has given us the gift of becoming more than the sum of our parts over the years.

Our time, linear time in this case, has caused expansion between our galaxies, stars and solar systems over the years; our bonds have weakened in some cases and completely broken while others have become stronger. Some of our brightest stars blazed for a time then winked out of existence making room for other newer younger stars. However, the gravity that holds us together, binds us to this reality has become weak due to the expansion of distance and time. Some would say time has not been kind to us in some ways while others would say life has been so full and has given new strength.

That ‘linear time’ I spoke of, it is just that: linear, scientifically a desirable algorithm! We are unable to turn it back, speed it up, move to another track; we are on a schedule we are unable to change, it’s simply because we are obsessed with measuring it.

Now, just what if we could time travel. Travel back in time to meet those people we were, speak to them get to know them again, maybe give them some advice. Well we can and have accomplished part of our time travel. Memories!  Yes memories of our past, we can travel to them in a blink of an eye; transcending distances and age. We can visit a prom, a Friday night game, listen to conversation with that old flame and feel the emotion in your being. The ‘presentists’ among us can’t argue with this because every time the “do you remember…?” comes into the conversation time travel has taken place. The wonderful thing about this sort of time travel is the complete access to everyone with a mind. No, prerequisite to understanding the general theory of relativity, time paradoxes, spooky actions at a distance or any other quantum entanglements; we can just do it.  We are blessed in this gift we have, use it often. We are light years ahead of H.G. Wells.

I was surfing the web and had a memory thread guide my fingers to the BHS1964.com site. I was so very surprised at the depth of field in this site. It was instant time travel when seeing the photos, the list of names and more. My mind leaped to cross the distances of time; for an instant I could almost smell third period art class and the paint thinner used in oil painting; my, my, what an incredible experience to look around and see some of you again, if only for a brief moment.

It might be fun to see a “Where are they now…?”  e-site on Yahoo.

I want to thank the custodians of the BHS1964.com web site for this labor of love and technical warmth. To the classmates of BHS1964 my best regards.

I look forward to seeing new posts, new comments and chronicles of your time travels. To those that have gone before, you live in our hearts and minds as long as one of us remembers.

Best regards and warm thoughts from the here and now.
