Lieuan “Lew” Walter Hansen, age 61, a resident of Sapello, N.M., passed away on Thursday May 8, 2008, at his home in Sapello. He was born in San Francisco, Calif. on Oct. 2, 1940 to the late Max Brummett and Vera Victoria Shirokoff and was united in Marriage to Maxine Herrera Hansen on March 15, 2006. He loved gardening and traveling.

He was a Vietnam Veteran. He received the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He is survived by his wife: Maxine Herrera Hansen of the family home in Sapello, NM; son: Troy Hansen and wife Melaine of Longmont, Colo.; sisters: Tania Madsen and husband Bud of Idaho; Eileen Peterson and husband Rollo of Bountiful, Utah; Valey Marchant of Provo, Utah; Grandchild: Heidi Hansen of Longmont, Colo. Step-son: Leon Herrera and wife Dorene of Las Vegas, N.M.; step-daughter: Amy Salazar and husband Louray of Sapello, N.M.; step-grandchildren: Oksana, Xavier, Ashleigh Herrera all of Las Vegas, N.M.; Cindy and Raydan Salazar of Sapello; Friends: James Maestas, Dolores Gallegos, Eddie Gonzales, Chris Trujillo, Jessica Trujillo, Alex Trujillo, and Delbert Ayers; numerous: other relatives and friends. There will be no services. Family will receive friends at the family home in Sapello, N.M. The eulogy was delivered by Delbert Ayers of Phoenix, Ariz.
