Verl Ray Duncan
2/18/1946 ~ 8/29/2015 |
Our loving Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away August 29, 2015 after sustaining a massive stroke. Verl was born February 18, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to the proud parents of Therice Hardy Duncan and Aretta Moss. He lived in Centerville throughout his teen years. He graduated from Bountiful High School and attended Weber College.

He found great enjoyment in the out of doors including horseback riding, fishing, and camping. In the later years he added golf, boating, and skiing to his outdoor activities. He was also proud of his "fast cars" he had over the years. He was the author of many practical jokes which kept you alert at all times when you were around him. He had a heart of gold which led him to reach out and help others that were less fortunate.
Verl married Diann Hunick, the love of his life, April 22, 1972 in Elko, Nevada. He was the Owner/Operator of Taco Time in Murray. Together they worked long hours, side by side, enjoying each other's company. It was very rare to see one without the other. They were happily married for 42 years. Diann's death was difficult for Verl to accept and he was still mourning her when he had this major stroke 10 months later.
In admiration I thank Clark for his loving, compassionate care that he gave unselfishly to his Dad. Not only were they father and son, they were the best of friends. Verl will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and grandparents.
He was survived by children, Clark Verl Duncan; Sheri (Jeff) Wilkes; Sister, Lois Duncan Abercrombie; three Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren and four nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Centerville City Cemetery.
