Independence, Kansas - Memorial services for Carolyn Dixon, 51, Independence, were held Wednesday at Potts Chapel, Independence. She was cremated. Mrs. Dixon died Sunday, December 28, 1997 at Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute. She was born February 21, 1946 in Salt Lake City, daughter fo Claude Sicklesteel and Alta Tommie Thomas Sicklesteel. |

She attended Washburn University in Topeka for two years. She was employed as a teller at the Citizens National Bank. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a past president of American Legion Auxiliary in Lawrence and a former district historian of American Legion Auxiliary of Independence, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Independence. She married John W. Dixon on December 1, 1973 in Oskaloosa. He survives of the home. Other survivors include a son Brian Dixon of Lawrence, Lawrence; her father, Topeka; a sister, Claudia Hamer, Topeka; and a grandchild.
